The Internet Marketing Autopsy

Introduction

The “Death Of Internet Marketing” report was created and distributed by Mike Filsaime a couple of years back. This article was actually written a couple of days after it was released, but has been residing on my site until I pulled it off. Anyway, DOIM was one of those reports that actually got many people talking. Yet, because of the way it was marketed, I think it got a few people thinking about it, but probably not enough. Even this year, people aren’t doing what they need for their business, and I honestly don’t care if it is online or offline.

Well, Mike says “Internet Marketing Died”. So here’s Stuart Tan’s autopsy:

So… let’s just say that I’m going to do a post-mortem after this report is out into the market. Yep – we’re all into forensics now, with so many interesting metaphors such as the “death of internet marketing”.

Most people would have by now read Mike Filsaime’s “Death of Internet Marketing”, Rich Schefren’s “Internet Business Manifesto” etc, etc. In my opinion, the biggest issues have not been dealt with. Mike undoubtedly gives a fantastic exposition of what was and what is to be.

Why am I writing this? Because after looking at all the emails coming in about Mike’s report, I came to the conclusion that:

most internet marketers didn’t ‘get’ it. They said “it’s a good report”. That’s not what it’s about.
The reviews about Mike’s report were far too simplistic about implications about what he really had to say

Firstly, these reports really weren’t for the newbie in internet marketing. They are for experienced marketers who know what is happening in the industry. Second, it’s a foregone conclusion that you need to be more of an entrepreneur… not just a marketer.
For those of you who are unable to keep up with Mike’s brilliance, or think that this is the be-all and end-all of marketing strategy, most people have missed the basis of Mike’s report.

Component #1 – Don’t be lazy!

If you want to be lazy, you’ll go to the sharks. Most of the hardest working internet marketers are also the wealthiest. Again, I’m not suggesting that you are going to become wealthy by only working really hard. The truth of the matter is that working hard to achieve auto-pilot in your business does require a bit more strategizing and action.

Component #2 – Assess trends!

Staying outside of the box? Then you’ll definitely be very lost when it comes to assessing whether or not you should take on a business model like affiliate marketing, or ecommerce… because you have insufficient information to be able to decide. Assess trends. Watch the web. Look at all the stuff that is progressing right before your very eyes. Get on technology forums and learn, learn, learn.

Component #3 – Credibility As Weaponry!

Through all this hype and a very severe lack of information, it’s difficult to decide whether or not to buy one product or the other. The main deciding factor will come from someone whom you trust completely and will be willing to buy simply because you deem this person to be credible. So, build your credibility! It will take more than just one report to do this! Build your credibility! Set yourself up with the right people, credentials, etc. Or better still, get on one of my teleseminars.

Component #4 – Forward Strategy!

It’s not easy to move forward in internet marketing, but that’s often because one doesn’t have a clear direction in the first place. Vision, as Mike says, is important. I believe it’s more than just ‘vision’. It’s more like the ability to focus on what needs to be done, and just taking action and doing it, having already decided that it is something you will accomplish at all cost.

Too many people balk at doing the things that matter. They end up procrastinating! Okay, I’m not an angel myself 100% of the time. But think of where you are. For instance, you know for a fact that you need to create content for your site. Say you’re not a really good content creator. What next? Wait and hope that money will fall from the sky? I don’t think so! You still need to find a way to get it done. Or, make a way! You may have to think of ways to get your way even though you can’t do it yourself.

Component #5 – Polarity thinking… and the Stuart Slap!

When everyone is doing something, you have to do the complete opposite.

Look at the infamous Google Slap. If you’re not familiar, Google “slapped” people a number of times already. When people don’t provide good value, they get slapped. This is to force people to avoid their own impending doom. It’s like a parent slapping their children to not touch the burning flame. Still, people go ahead, get burnt, them blame the person they last encountered. Tsk. Tsk.

The internet marketing world is filled with sheep. One person goes there and everyone follows. This is good news for the person who knows how to exploit this situation. When everyone moves in one direction, they miss out opportunities that already exist.

One example is this – now everyone in Asia is heading and attacking the internet marketing niche. I know it’s not the right thing to do to monetize, and there are many other monetization sources out there. So what do I do? I spoil the market so that people will not be hoodwinked into buying non-value-for-money items. Is it a good strategy? Some people will hate me for it. But it will force the survivors up the chain, the credible ones will quadruple their income, and those who can’t handle the heat either give up or find another niche.

What next?

It’s not hard to understand. But the fact is, newcomers to the internet marketing world will look at these reports and say ‘what the heck do they mean’? Such things will garner a lot of value for the average internet marketer, but will hardly make sufficient sense to the average newbie in internet marketing. To them, it’s like “oh yeah – I’ll focus on my business strategy” or “sure, I’ll use a one-time-offer”. It seems like a ‘no-big-deal’ thing.

Well, of course. That’s because there IS no big deal. We’ve come full circle. If you don’t do it right the first time, conventional wisdom like “failing to plan is planning to fail” will suddenly make lots of sense. Are you willing to wait until that happens??

The Evolution Of Marketing Strategies

The truth is this – marketing strategies have been evolving. Every day, there is a new strategy or tactic pulled by someone to create the next wave in internet marketing. But the truth is that most of them start with a concept from thinkers everywhere.

“This Article Is Not Meant To Overwhelm You!”

Yes, be overwhelmed, if you choose. I am still stumped by the fact that beginners are still lagging so far behind. I can’t blame them, but I can blame internet marketers for not helping to chip in to clear this.

Excuse #1 – They are lazy

Interpretation – I’m lazy.

If you as an internet marketer are reading this and not going all out there to clear the air and help out building the market, the industry will become stagnant and there will be very little left that can be done in the industry. Mike’s prediction will then come true. We probably wouldn’t be able to sell anything because subscribers are going to be lambasted with emails over and over without the right ability to decide what to choose and why.

Most internet marketers are themselves lazy. That’s the plain truth, and many admit to that. But they are propagating the problem, not solving it. Instead, they will need to cultivate a voracious appetite for information in people who are completely new. Disagree with me all you want. You’re the one reading this article.

Excuse #2 – They are not technical

Interpretation – I can’t be bothered to look at ways in which newbies can learn easily.

As a trainer, my angle as always been to simplify, simplify, simplify. If I can make a complex process simple enough to follow, there will be understanding and comprehension. This is good enough to start. When someone says that there is a complete lack of understanding, then that same person is going to be the reason why I start to alter my instructions or the way I teach.

Excuse #3 – I don’t have enough resources

Interpretation – I’m not creative enough to find a better way.

All the experts out there had better find a way to utilize resources to make beginners learn in a more efficient way. Admittedly, I want to do this myself, but have failed in attracting the right learners much of the time, as well as to attract the right coaches. Too many times, people are in it just for the money. Selfish, selfish, selfish. It’s not wrong, it’s just selfish. Can you find better ways to do it? Challenge yourself!

The Newbie Phenomenon

For every one or two internet marketing gurus, there are several hundred newbies who develop. At the rate of growth of internet marketing, there will be far more newbies than there are experts. The lop-sidedness of this is true – only 5% of the population will earn a decent income from internet marketing related products. The next 10% will probably be working very hard and earning decent 6-figure incomes. The next 25% are probably working hard and earning a high 5-figure income, but the mean range of the next 35-40% of internet marketers are struggling with 4-figure incomes. What this also means is that 25-30% of every internet marketer’s list has a bunch of newbies who are afraid to start internet marketing and don’t have a clue what to do.

Here are typical mistakes newbies make:

1. Diving into the “internet marketing” niche.

I see so many newbies with ‘cut-and-paste’ approaches, attempting to encroach on the very large and highly profitable internet pie. I apologize in advance if you are one of these people. You will earn some income, but you won’t really make much. A couple of hundreds, maybe?

If you are one of these, you are the kind of people being described in Mike’s report. Students of the gurus and guru wannabes. In my opinion, the biggest issue alluded by Mike’s report goes FAR BEYOND what he actually mentions. It’s a common thing, but missing. It’s called research.

It’s so plain and simple, and all the information is literally right in front of your eyes. But you’ve been given so many opportunities that you don’t know which one to sell or to understand which niche to penetrate.

Key lesson: to be an excellent internet marketer and entrepreneur, you MUST know how to assess the market. You MUST know what weapons are at your disposal, and you MUST know how to make a decision about what to sell, who to sell it to, and how to go about doing it.

2. Affiliate marketing without ‘affiliating’

Don’t you think that the issue in people selling other people’s products is clear? People want anonymity. They want to sell something without having to put their picture on the web. This is silly. If you want to be an affiliate marketer, you have to learn how to do it without fear of being revealed. Unless, of course, you are an employee who doesn’t want to be caught.

Wait a minute – if you simply reversed the role, would YOU buy from someone who had something to hide? The whole idea about affiliate marketing is that people have forgotten that they need to be doing more “affiliating” than they do “marketing”.

Key lesson: Loyalty will be the determining factor in your business strategy.

3. UnCreativity – The Same-ol’ same-’ol

Someone says “do a report” and you do it. Someone else says “use a drop cap” and you use it. I don’t mean to put down such information. I do believe that it has been useful to some extent. But my question is… how do YOU know?

The big irony is that the report entitled “The Death Of Internet Marketing” was being spread using the exact same mistakes that it talks about in the report itself! You see, the truth is you might be able to pull off the same stunt a couple of times, but on the third attempt… nah.

You cannot (and should not) re-use methods developed by other people. The ideas are already passé the moment they go out on the net – after people use it over and over, it’s like a degrading gene pool. If you want to do something outstanding, then innovate a little. It’s the small innovative tweak that gets people to smirk, nod their heads and say ‘wow, that was brilliant’.

If you don’t know, then you won’t know the foundational principles of how people react to your writings, reports, etc. It’s essential for you to be able assess their reactions and how they take action based on what you say, and to be able to do this well.

If you are just doing cut and paste strategies, sure you can work with your list for a while, but you are still not cultivating a relationship with them. You are merely overloading them with information.

Key lesson: If you are attempting to breach the internet marketing stronghold, you need to have far more than just used tactics and strategies. You have to think. You have to innovate. More on this later.

Other issues In Internet Marketing

1. Quality of products: no standards of assessment

What else did Mike say? He mentioned that many people are buying and buying into opportunities then heading off in all different directions. I see this happening right in front of my very own eyes. At the same time, he mentioned the concept of Web 2.0 and user generated content and the ability for users to rate and comment on a site. I’ve mentioned this several times in my internet marketing seminars. But the issue is, so what?

You need to be able to assess the quality of something. How well you can assess the quality depends on the level of the user. I mean a complete newbie will hardly be able to provide an effective evaluation from an internet marketing perspective. In addition, there is also a growing trend for internet marketers to provide rewards for testimonials. This is hardly a fair judge of a product.

As a trainer, I often request for feedback with a standard evaluation form at the end of my trainings. This form is created in order to assess specific elements in the training. The concept of training evaluation itself is a broad area, and if you’d like to receive my insights into this, you may do so at my Business Strategy section on my blog.

2. Marketer recognition

As you know, marketer recognition is an issue. Most people do not have the means to be able to establish a high enough level of credibility until they align with other top marketers. However, there is another way.

Be aligned with happy and satisfied customers!

Some of you might think that this is about building a really large testimonial list. Well, this testimonial list leverages on the psychology of social proof. However, if you are not schooled in logical analysis, you will not be able to pick out flaws in arguments. One such typical flaw is called the ‘slippery slope’ technique. “He was really good. He gave me a good product. Yeah.” What in the world kind of testimonial is that? How about this instead:

“Stuart, wow, you’ve made this a fascinating 2 hours for me. The chemistry is very good between us I love the things you’ve said and the questions you’ve asked. I’m deeply grateful to you for being so insightful as to the things that are important to [guerrilla marketers] everywhere.” ~ Jay Conrad Levinson

Satisfied? Happy? Well… you have to build this as part of your neurological hardwiring if you want to survive online. If you want to get more stuff out from where you are right now, join me to build a credibility plan.

3. Entrepreneurial effectiveness

I’m guilty of one thing – complaining that there isn’t enough effective business training for new internet marketers. And as a result of that, I got my just desserts – people asking me to be their business mentor and strategist.

In my opinion, business training is not just about taking a degree in business management and graduating top of the class. It’s about making a business come to fruition. These skills include a whole bunch of stuff such as knowing how to conceive a business idea and put it into a plan in the first place. Another is to know what your strengths are and put them to use, while knowing how to delegate to people who can use their strengths together with yours. This basically implies the need for leadership.

Most newbies are attracted to the opportunity, but not willing to make the time or effort. However, those who are leaders already take the next step and make this happen. Leadership in an organization is important – tons of authors have already made this clear, especially one John C. Maxwell, a very highly respected leadership thought leader. On the other hand, it may be that some people think of leadership as something so ‘normal’ they forget to revere the importance of its value in running a business.

The biggest mistake one will make is to say that it takes hard work. No it doesn’t. It simply requires an effective and systematic mobilization of resources to get your system to work.

4. Process thinking

Being able to create a system presumes you need to know systems thinking as well as process thinking. Both are part of the same thing, and one needs to recognize this. If you are unaware of the power of systems thinking and process thinking, it means you have not been honing your thinking capabilities.

One too many internet marketer has mentioned the need to learn to be physically ‘lazy’, but never mentally. I totally agree with this statement, but there needs to be more education to help you develop this competence of learning about process thinking. If, as an entrepreneur, you do not develop this capability, you will be incapacitated, unable to see the interrelations of a large variety of different things in the complex world of business. You will be unable to craft your own strategies. Jeff Walker is a clear example of how knowledge and clear thinking leads to powerful, powerful product launches.

Stuart Tan, MBA (Western Michigan) has been training for over 14 years and developed multiple programs all across Asia focused on developing motivation, focus and identity shifts. His ability to create profound change in individuals is also reflected in his business coaching work where he targets scaling the business from the inside out. He believes that every individual who wants to grow a business must have three components – a clear purpose, maximized capacity, and pillars of prominence.

Internet Marketing – How to Start As a Beginner

Internet marketing is like every other businesses, except that internet marketing is done strictly online without need for any physical transactions or physical contacts with buyers.

As the internet marketing business is now thriving like never before, more people wish to establish them themselves in this business. Internet marketing involves the buying, selling and distribution of a product or service on the Internet. Internet marketing has, over the years, become one of the most dynamic and fastest growing businesses throughout the world. The main reason for this growth is its availability in the world to millions (if not billions) of people. It is not easy to learn the basics of Internet marketing. However, it is also not beyond the beginners’ ability to learn rapidly: anyone with passion to do successful business on the internet can do this.

Basically, there are four areas we need to look at:

Website Design

Designing a website is one of the basic skills you must possess before becoming an internet marketer. It used to be a requirement to have knowledge of HTML, CSS, XML, and other web design software languages. If you do possess these skills, you are be able to create websites according to your precise specifications. Apart from having these skills, you can join a website design platform (of which there are too many to go into here). These often have “drag and drop” templates. This will allow you to put up a very attractive website in almost no time at all.

These website templates are straight forward, and most have been designed for people who do not have the technical “computer language” skills to do their own programming. If the design of a website is not something you are good at, you can hire a good web designer to do the job for you.

Software Development

The development of software is another category in Internet marketing business. In this category, you develop a tool (or software) according to a customers’ specifications and preferences. This is a difficult task because it requires complex inputs (and something simple like a single comma instead of a period will actually stop the software from working)!

Development of websites is an easier skill to master than this. Some blog or website owners do require the service of software/apps developers from time to time. If you have this type of skill set, you can make good money by offering this service to customers across the globe. Such development may also include setting up the contents of websites, helping people with affiliate marketing, blogging, etc.

Advertising of Products or Services

This is arguably the easiest of all internet marketing techniques. Advertising uses techniques such as search engine optimization, as well as the use of popular blogs/websites to improve ad visibility. The ads are usually posted on websites that have greater use and get a lot of traffic. Examples of advertisements are visible on both Google and Facebook.

The skills to do this are easy to learn and even easier to set up. This type of marketing is preferred by many internet marketers over the website design and software development styles of marketing.

Truly, all you need do is learn how to set up a blog or website and begin to send traffic to it. Once you begin to receive a substantial amount of traffic, you apply to an Ads Company to advertise on your website. Google AdSense, Facebook ads, and propeller ads, are good examples for you to look into. Search engine optimization and the placement of banner ads are excellent examples of internet advertising.

Selling of Products and Services

Probably the largest and most popular way to begin a career in Internet Marketing is by selling a product or service. Selling on the Internet is the most searchable opportunity and is a precondition for any internet marketing business. Most direct sales companies are now tending towards using the Internet as well. You will find that the majority of my articles, blog posts and YouTube videos are centered around this niche of Internet Marketing.

Although there are many, many marketers in this niche (and you may think there is “too much competition”- but you would be wrong!) the opportunities are truly endless. Selling products or services is basically a strategy that can reach a larger audience with fewer expenses.

Sales are made using email marketing, social media and websites. The method of selling depends on the company and the type of business or products you are trying to sell, as well as different methods of approaching your prospective clients. You can sign up to offer products through one of the auction sites on the internet (such as Amazon or E-bay) and earn smaller commissions with less overhead. Or, you can offer products directly and cut out the middle man! You can develop your own products very easily and keep all the profits. Or sign up affiliates to market and sell your products for you and pay them a commission and you keep the profits from that! (We will get into this in later articles).

Global Trends in the Cosmetic Industry

Cosmetic dyes and colours: Explained

Cosmetic colours are also known as cosmetic lakes. These colours are produced by taking the help of absorption of dyes that are water-soluble onto a substrate. It makes the colour insoluble in water. Cosmetic lake colours are made by making use of unique technology. The technology helps in attaining extremely fine particles. These particles help in achieving shade consistency. In comparison water soluble colours, cosmetic lakes are much more stable & safe. They also generate vivacious and brighter colours. It has been seen that cosmetic pigments and lakes are more suitable for food products that contain fats and oils. They are also suitable for those products that do not contain enough moisture for dissolving colours.

Cosmetic dyes, on the other hand are used for making cosmetic colours & products. These dyes are widely used by the cosmetic manufacturing industries and businesses all over the world. They are primarily used for manufacturing hair dyes, lipsticks, nail polishes, shampoo as well as other personal care products. It has been seen that generally water soluble & food dyes are very easy and safe to use. These dyes are mostly used for a wide variety of applications. They include cleaning chemicals, soaps, medicine, cosmetic products etc.

Know which ones are safe for use

Be it the use of any type of cosmetic dyes or cosmetic colorants safety of use is a primary consideration. Cosmetic colours and cosmetic dyes often make use of a wide range of synthetic colours. These are often referred to as FD&C colours. They are mainly extracted through coal tar and are basically a by-product of petroleum. Research shows that some particular coal tar based dyes lead to different types of cancer. This is why the FDA regulates them. They also determine the arsenic or lead amount they contain. Thus there are many restrictions in the use of such colours.

Some global trends in Cosmetic dyes and cosmetic colours

Worldwide it is seen that North America, followed by Europe, has the largest market for colour cosmetics. This is due to innovations in colour cosmetics. Other factors also include high consumer disposable income and frequent new product launches in colour cosmetic market in the region. However Asia too is expected to show high growth rate in the colour cosmetics market in next few years. This is on account of the increasing consumer incomes and rising in awareness about personal care products in the region.

Economic Turmoil and the Future of Brazil

For many years, Brazil has been an emerging economic hub, attracting investors from all over the world. The Brazilian economy saw an 368% increase in Gross Domestic Product growth from 2003 to 2011. In addition, Brazil took in almost half of Foreign Direct Investment flowing into South America during 2015. This doesn’t come as a surprise since it reigns as one of the major emerging national economies. However, Brazil has seen a recent economic downturn with increasing unemployment and a contracting GDP. In fact, the Brazilian government cut 2017 GDP expectations from 1.6% to 1% growth. Having been one the most lucrative foreign investments for governments to individual investors, what happened to the so-called “Country of the Future” and can Brazil regain its momentum?

Back in 2015, recession hit Brazil hard and the country is still struggling to get back on track. According to the CIA World Factbook, the economy contracted 32% from its peak in 2011 and unemployment reached a new high at 12.6% in 2016. Being based mostly on services, agriculture and oil, Brazil’s economy has a direct correlation with global demand. With global recession looming, Brazil is feeling the effects of a slow world economy.

Brazil is a top tourist destination offering beautiful beaches, a diverse culture and exciting festivals. However, with the world economy slowing down, people are less likely to travel abroad. Since the majority of the country’s GDP derives from the service industry, Brazil will not be able to rebound any time soon unless there is a major boost in consumer confidence.

The demand for Brazilian exports was slashed when its largest trading partner, China, entered into an economic slowdown of their own. The decrease in exports caused massive layoffs throughout the nation. The notorious economic downward spiral began by wary consumer spending as unemployment rose. Companies that tried to gain capital by borrowing in U.S. dollars found it difficult to pay back those loans as the Brazilian Real crashed 25% in the span of a year in 2015.

One of the major hits came from low oil prices and the corruption of Petrobras, a large oil company and Brazil’s largest source of investment. Brazil is major producer of oil, exporting $11.8 billion worth in 2015, according to the Observatory for Economic Complexity. OPEC delivered a major blow when the cartel decided not to cut oil production, causing oil futures prices to plunge. In order to cope with heavy losses, Petrobras was forced to sell off assets and halt future research and expansion plans.

As if things weren’t going poorly, Petrobras was also caught in a scandal with former Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff and other high office executives. From 2004 to 2012, the company had spent over $2 billion on bribes to politicians whom would allow the company to charge inflated prices for construction contracts. Now that the scandal has unfolded, Petrobras executives face jail time and the company as a whole is forced to pay billions in fines.

So what does the future hold for Brazil?

Although at the moment the future looks dim, there are still signs of hope Brazil can turn itself around. The Real has seemed to stabilize in 2016 and heads into 2017 with an upward trend. Moreover, experts’ GDP projections for 2018 through 2020 show promising figures that Brazil can restore pre-recession level growth.

Even more promising, U.S. companies are still showing faith in Brazil’s future. American Airlines plans to invest $100 million in an aircraft maintenance center in Sao Paulo. Brazilian Investment Partnership Minister Wellington Moreira Franco and many countries like the United States, United Kingdom, France and Japan agree there are still reasons to invest in Brazil. This should be seen as a sign of confidence that the Brazilian market will grow soundly with the support of both national and international investment.

Major Importing Countries Of Basmati Rice

In the period of worldwide markets and the subsequent improvement of universal licensed innovation rights, clashes emerge between industrialized countries looking to grow new items from plants, and creating countries trying to profit by their indigenous vegetation. One case is the contention over basmati rice. Since quite a while ago recognized as beginning in the Indian sub-landmass, basmati rice is prized for its unmistakable fragrance, season, and long, slim, fleecy grains.

A standout amongst the most essential measures of numerous Asian nations’ financial execution is the cost and nature of its rice. It’s no big surprise, at that point, that policymakers have taken huge walks in endeavoring to control the flow of their national rice exchange request to balance out their particular residential markets. The five best shippers of rice are in charge of around 30% of the aggregate worldwide exchange, and the main ten are dependable around half of aggregate rice imports around the world. A large portion of the real players, including the latest best merchant, China, are situated in Asia, which is the landmass most in charge of movements on the planet’s rice showcase. Other huge rice-bringing in nations incorporate Nigeria, the Philippines, Iran, and Indonesia.

A considerable lot of the real players, including the latest best shipper, China, are situated in Asia, which is the landmass most in charge of movements on the planet’s rice showcase. Other noteworthy rice-bringing in nations incorporate Nigeria, the Philippines, Iran, and Indonesia. A lot of the rice mill plants have been established seeing the necessity of rice as a food supplement. The increasing demand in the current scenario is the basis of increase and expansion of the business of the basmati rice exporters.

The future of rice trade:

In spite of massive increases in the course of recent years, the worldwide rice advertise has been experiencing a few times of compression over the recent years. Notwithstanding this, the world’s rice exchange is required to experience real development in years to come, as key nations keep on initiating projects to build their rice generation and radically chopped down their reliance on imported rice.

As the world’s best buyers of rice modernize their ways of life and enhance their separate eating regimens, interest for new assortments of rice is additionally anticipated that would increment, taking into account different nations to assume progressively essential parts in the worldwide rice advertise. China’s uncommon development in 2015 came as amazement and, to this date, regardless of whether it will keep on dominating the market remains an intense inquiry to reply. Specialists guarantee that by the year 2040 an extra rice supply of no under 112 million tons will be required to take care of the developing worldwide demand, particularly if nations like Africa neglect to address their own developing populaces and in this manner more noteworthy sustenance asset necessities.

The Truth About Shipping Technology and Supply Chain Visibility

In the shipping business, it was once an extra to have shipping technology which supplied supply chain visibility, but it’s become a must in a now competitive and shipping software run industry. Not everyone knows exactly what it means to have complete supply chain visibility, however, so what is supply chain visibility and just how does shipping software help it? You may have learned this stuff about supply chain visibility, so let’s figure out the truth:

Supply chain visibility in a glance

It’s pretty much exactly what it looks like. Utilizing quality shipping software or auditing systems, you’re given awareness over all your shipments through openness of shipping data, organizing, and auditing, and all involved parties gain access to this information: you can plainly view the entirety of your shipments from end to end.

For comprehensive visibility you have to be in a position to trade data around different systems, like shipping data and freight deals to implement the best logistics management strategies you can. How your business and systems connect to your shipping partners along with their system is the number one factor in achieving real visibility so that you can discover how you can save money shipping.

Can a business continue to be competitive without having supply chain visibility?

The quick and candid response would be no. Well, it isn’t really impossible for a shipping business to function without supply chain visibility, but they are more prone to be eliminated or surpassed in the freight or parcel shipping industry by more efficient companies. Merely staying in business differs from being competitive, and supply chain visibility is essential as of late to be able to keep a competitive edge.

Shouldn’t shipping software and visibility be a much more popular strategy?

Unfortunately, a lot of companies aren’t loaded with the proper shipping software and auditing services. Though proper supply chain management and supply chain visibility has been an acknowledged issue for decades, EDIs, manual spreadsheets, etc. aren’t good enough for visibility reliable enough to continue to be competitive. The best supply chain management and visibility option is to use a transportation management system (TMS) and auditing solution.

What does not having visibility mean for a business?

One of the things that can take place is serious damage to a company’s name. About 33% of consumers in the United States put the blame for stock-outs on the store. This gives an adverse influence on long-term consumer retention and brand loyalty. In addition, it will directly injure a company’s bottom line, creating both urgent and extended issues which are hard to remedy.

Where does responsibility for those effects fall?

The real issue ought to be about solving the problem by updating your shipping technology and auditing methods, not setting blame. You can’t position the blame on retailers when 75% of shippers report that their visibility tool doesn’t integrate with their shipping technology, and only 39% of shippers gather data with visibility systems in the first place. There’s just no way to prevent stock-outs without the ability to make radical decisions according to real-time data exchanges.

Approaches to fix the problem

Businesses must find solutions that would provide them with end-to-end supply chain visibility. While legacy systems remain, businesses must invest into transportation management systems and auditing solutions that can operate on both old tech like EDI, and newer technology like API.

API is a wonderful technology for shipping software as a way to join suppliers, shippers, carriers, etc. with real-time transportation data so that they can make better decisions for their logistics management.

You can save money shipping with thorough visibility and improved logistics management, just by embracing more progressive shipping software like a TMS capable of working with both EDI and API.

Shipping TMS delivers transportation software and logistics management services. Transportation industry leading parcel and freight shipping management software helps save money shipping and get cheap shipping rates to improve supply chains.

The Paramounted Importance of Critical Analysis in International Trade Policies

International trade is largely based on the constant fluctuations in the world-wide economy, this resulting in constant changes with regards to tariffs, trade subsidies and unending amendments of regulations with regards to international trade. “Trade policy and economic Growth”, a paper by Keith Maskus, PhD, focuses on the relationship between trade policies and the growth of the economy or lack thereof, the main point of interest of the paper was to establish whether the variance of trade policies will affect the economic growth of any country. The conclusion reached was that open economies tend to grow faster than closed economies, ceteris paribus. therefore concluding that open competition is good in the sense that it improves resource distribution and the country gains in Investment and innovation.

An organisation that is involved in international trade has to pay special attention to such information. There might not be any countries with closed economies however there are countries that have low imports to the point that they are regarded as closed economies for instance Brazil. In 2011 Brazil recorded 13% as its import percentage which was quite low for a country of its stature. Is it not then imperative to constantly be up to date with changes in the trade policies of countries one is interested in pursuing trade relations with? since there is a proven positive relationship between the openness of an economy to competition (thus meaning the country is greatly involved in trade) and the growth of that country`s economy, this serves as an indication of how lucrative and profitable a business venture would be under such circumstances. The Critical analysis aspect then comes into play by determining how much gain or loss would result from substantial changes to the policies, which are measures and instruments that can influence export and imports, the objective being the policies influence the trade sector to the result of profit for the business venture. one might feel a degree in commercial management is then needed in order to fully understand all the kinks and edges of the international business, and they would be right, but the eventuality is that it will always boil down to intelligence and efficiency in the analysis of trends, calculation of potential profit/loss, predictions of future stability or fluctuations in the world economy prompting changes to prices in the trade sector.

There is one other important factor that can alter potential business plans, and that is the politics of the country in question, policies are easily influenced by the politics of the nation, and it is thus advisable that critical analysis be also engaged, this results in better understanding of the country and its stability thus reducing the chances of incurring a bad business eventuality. Nations are not governed by robots, unfortunately, but are governed by people with interests and human nature desires to differ from individual to individual making it difficult to maintain a constant effective system. if politicians are elected they tend to focus on altering policies for their own benefit, and the benefit of those they promised (if there are still honest politician available) from that point it is important that international business consider such factors before pursuing business. Prime examples being, whenever there are strikes in South Africa investors tend to shy away, and most of the strikes are birthed from political influence, thus deeming South Africa an Unstable nation to invest in, or Zimbabwe a nation sanctioned, due to political infringements, making the country undesirable for investment irregardless of the profitability of the business idea. It is thus an excellent idea to firstly research in-depth to the politics of the country before hand and invest with,much-needed information, guiding the innovative decision made.

The Unintended Consequences of Globalism

Globalism might be good for the world economy as a whole, but does not necessarily mean it has been good for the American worker. Whether intentional or unintended, the American worker has suffered through the philosophy of free trade. Do not miss quote me, Globalism has a lot of positives. Now more than ever the people of earth are connected through the internet and can communicate information faster than any other time in history. People are exposed to different cultures and ideas, and the free flow of information is exponentially evolving our society. “Free trade” plays a big part in globalism, which is why there has been a “backlash” from non-college educated workers in wealthy countries in direct response to the effects of free trade policies. When wealthy counties openly trade with developing countries it can overvalue the wealthy countries currency, which in turn makes imports cheaper while exports become more expensive. However, according to the Economic Policy Institute, the real culprit is not the valuation of the dollar and the increasing trade deficit. (Bivens, Economic Policy Institute)

The USA has increasingly shifted its economy from manufacturing to services like banking and investing. It is cheaper to import products of manufacturing from a country that has extremely cheap labor than it is to employ American workers in the United States. This in turn means there now is a premium on college educated Americans who are filling job openings within the service industry. On the other side of the coin, manufacturing jobs are leaving the country and lowering wages of workers without a college degree. This fact coupled with increasing technology that replaces workers and a trade policy that out prices “expensive” American workers is leading to decreased wages. As the US trades more with developing countries as a percentage of GDP, the wages of unskilled workers continue to decrease. (Slaughter and Swagle, International Monetary Fund)

Though Globalism has a net increase in GDP and employment for countries involved, most of the gains from free trade is disproportionately received by the top 1% of Americans. Policies that protect corporations and their interest at the expense of the American worker exacerbate the problem. Trade policies like NAFTA and others have little protections for workers and heavily favor the multinational corporations that seek to benefit from free trade. This only adds fuel to income inequality, which for poor countries can increase economic growth while having a negative effect on rich countries. Rich countries are also at higher risk of financial crisis when they have high levels of income inequality. (Malinen, Huffington Post)

Globalism and free trade are linked very close together, which is why there is a stigma attributed to the word. There has been growing resentment within the US and other wealthy nations of globalism as a whole. They do not just condemn free trade, but openly blame minorities and marginalized groups for their decrease in wages and “eroding” their cultural dominance that they claim dominion over. This is a deadly cycle, as income inequality only feeds this type of behavior. In a country that is not adequately educating its people, more of the workers within its country will become more ignorant. With free trade putting a premium on college educated workers and decreasing wages of unskilled labor, we are now almost at a tipping point, socially and economically.

Globalism has many unintended consequences that inadvertently caused huge social and economic problems within the US. The problems that globalism is causing is not a hard fix. Reducing the income inequality will eradicate more of the negative effects of globalism. Universal Education, Universal healthcare, and a rewrite of our tax code are just a few ways to reduce income inequality. All of these possibilities are well within our means. We have to take care of these problems swiftly, before globalism becomes an integral part of our own decline. (Mason, Post-Gazette)

4 Benefits of Importing Goods From Overseas 4 Benefits of Importing Goods From Overseas

Any business involved in supplying goods or materials needs to constantly look at ways to increase the efficiency of the supply chain, while also managing costs. A practical solution to improve profit margins is to look to the overseas market for the raw materials. Importing goods can offer a variety of worthwhile benefits, such as high-quality goods, lower prices and a wider range of suppliers. While the opportunity to import goods is great for a lot of businesses, it is still essential to conduct the necessary research to avoid making a costly mistake.

Here are a few benefits related to importing from overseas:

Comparative advantage

A major reason to import relates to comparative advantage and the potential to benefit from the more attractively priced goods. Comparative advantage relates to finding the overseas market with the more favorable production costs, such as lower tax schemes, low labor costs, cheaper raw materials, etc. By cutting the initial investment in materials or products, it makes it that much easier to increase future profits once the items are shipped back and sold in your own country. This makes importing one of the easiest and quickest ways to boost your profit margins and cut costs.

High quality products

Importing goods from countries across the world still mean it is possible to source high-quality products. There are plenty of countries that have their own specialties and strengths. For the business that is looking to buy raw materials or goods from a country that specializes in a particular item, it often pays to buy direct from the source. This means it is possible to get access to the finest materials right at the start of the supply chain which should help to improve all-round quality and hopefully make the end product that much more marketable.

Trade relations

There are plenty of countries that attempt to promote trade relations to make it that much easier to import the desired goods or products necessary for your business. Government agencies may even be set up to help make the entire importing process as straightforward as possible. With the guidance of an official agency in place, the risks of trading with an overseas company are likely to be significantly reduced.

Regional resources

A further benefit is the ability to expand the potential market pool with the choice to buy resources that may only be found in specific regions of the world. This may relate to special technologies or raw materials.
